Great question! Typically, we visit multiple locations during the tour, but our primary goal is to find the spot with the best chance of seeing the aurora. The environmental conditions will determine the route, and we may travel up to 200 km from Tromsø city in various directions.

Sometimes, we may need to move between several locations to find clear skies and areas of strong solar activity. On other occasions, it's better to stay in one spot and wait for the skies to clear and the lights to appear.

Our guides consider many factors when choosing the tour’s location. There are numerous routes and microclimates to choose from. Some nights, a particular area may be more likely to clear up, which might lead multiple guides to head in that direction. While we typically change locations during the hunt, there are times when it's wiser to stay put if that location is expected to have clear skies.

To maximise our chances, our guides stay connected with others in the area and continuously monitor updates from nearby and distant locations. If conditions are less favorable elsewhere, they may decide to remain in one place.
